Santa by the dining room tree--talking to the cat?!
How cool is that?
With two little girls, Santa Claus is a big deal in the Thompson house—and I am constantly on the lookout for cool new products and websites to prolong the magic of Santa as long as we can. When I was given the opportunity to review iCaughtSanta.com recently, I jumped on the chance—but, had some initial reservations. I have created a ton of online Santa themed videos, hacked photos, and personalized North Pole related activities over the years. I am fairly biased on online “digital downloads” and “unique gifts”. I have tried so many, that after 16 years, they often lose some of the promised PR pizzazz. I put iCaughtSanta through the total busy mom test—and I can honestly say that I LOVE it.

When I look at a digital gift or digital media website, I look at the three things. (1) Real mom-style ease of use. (If I cannot create a product in under 10 minutes with 15 child/hubby/dog/cat related distractions, 5 land line phone calls and a beep crazy cell phone—I can’t consider it), (2) Final product quality. I’m an ex-engineer turned SAHM, a bit of a geek and a perfectionist—so quality matters—and is truly fairly easy to achieve digital download Q&A for a real company in today’s tech society, and (3)Value of the end product. We have one income—no room for silly fluff. Other SAHM’s understand.

Okay, what was my verdict of ICaughtSanta.com? I LOVE IT!!

The site is super easy to use. (Passed mom test #1). Simply upload a holiday scene (I used our dining room Christmas tree since it’s the least likely to be destroyed or altered by a family cat by Christmas). Then choose an iCaughtSanta.com image to add to your photo (they have 20 versions—and no matter which scene I picked from the dining room to the fireplace to the front door landing—I was able to pick an appropriate Santa image for my background. Check out the product and tweak the images if necessary—my images required only a little adjustment to the brightness of my personal photo and I had to rotate the Santa image so that he was facing the right direction! Print at home or send it to a local retailer. The process couldn’t be easier.

The quality of the photo was awesome. (Passed mom test #2). I opted to print it at home with a laser printer—but, there were options to pay/print in local retail stores and pick up as well. Once I adjusted the brightness a bit on the online Santa image (I was only using a 12 megapixel digital camera), the two images meshed very well—and the final product printed with ease.

I cannot argue with a retail price less than $10. (Passed mom test #3)  Visitors receive a great photo image of Santa Claus overlaying a personal background—with  a wide selection of cool, creative borders that are downloadable, sharable, and printable. $10? I pay that for a single print sheet of the girls at the photographer—without Santa in our dining room!!

Okay—I love the iCaughtSanta site and plan to revisit the home site icaughtacharacter.com for some personalized shots of the Tooth Fairy in upcoming weeks as well! (My middle one has 5 loose teeth!) Because I love it so much and the owners of iCaughtSanta.com hope that you will too—they have offered me 10 gift certificates for personalized photos and products at the site!!
