With a high school A.P. history student and an elementary aged child invited to compete in an upcoming Geography Bee, I jumped at the chance recently to review the 50 States Trivia Game Pack from Python Printable Games. Always on the lookout for educational games, toys, and perhaps even some holiday vacation busy-work, I couldn’t wait to take a look at Python’s printable trivia games!
When I review a downloadable game set, I look at a number of factors: (1) Ease of order and download—because I am generally ordering between tasks and downloading during other online or computer oriented work at home tasks, (2) Quality of printable games. If I am spending money on a printable game when there are TONS of free games available on the internet—it needs to be a QUALITY game set, and (3) Value. I am a work at home mom—with a full time, working spouse—but, have lived on both a single parent income and a one parent SAHM income. Value is important—I don’t want to spend my money on just any random, run of the mill, online download offering.
How did Python Games’ 50 States Trivia pack stand up to my mom review? The kids loved it, the whole family benefited from the experience and this Mom could not have been happier.
What’s the overall Mama's World verdict on Python Games’ 50 States Trivia pack? The 50 States Trivia offers just what it says—a set of PC downloadable trivia questions for each of the 50 states. At first, I was a little skeptical that my elementary school and preschool aged daughters would get much from the games—but, I was wrong. My little one had a blast making lists of things to research in our state as well as states that we frequent on family visits and holidays, my middle little one learned A LOT of valuable geography bee insights. What was the bonus of the Python 50 States Trivia Pack set for this mom? My high school aged daughter picked up a few refreshers from junior high social studies classes (without a struggle!). Sadly, my husband and I were met with more than a few, “Did you know that?” or “Where is that?” comments—even about our own state of Ohio!
In addition to the 50 States Trivia Pack (which I would certainly recommend for parents preparing for school Geography Bees or refreshing for state academic standards testing), there are a number of great family oriented, printable games at Python Printable Games. Looking for Christmas or holiday themed games? There is a great Mega Pack of downloadable options covering everything from MadLibs to Biblical trivia (also great for teens on academic or school quiz teams for a bible study refresher!) I will likely be purchasing the Christmas packet as well!!)
Mama's Corner of the World Final Thoughts? The game packs were extremely easy to download and print—even on a PC protected to the MAX with antivirus, spyware and download blocking devices. How was the Python Downloadable game quality? The games were true to their presentation—the pack was presented as a set of 50 state trivia cards and it was just that. The questions were easy to read, reasonable to understand—and all of the questions that we researched independently for accuracy were accurate and well written. As to value—I’m sure that I could develop a set of questions for my daughters from a collection of free sites—but, it would be both time consuming and full of lots of legitimate effort if I took the time to find reputable sites and fact check. I would gladly pay the low cost Python prices for game and trivia packs to save the personal time and effort needed to create these as a DIY project!
