Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares Cereal Review

I was recently given the opportunity to sample and review the newest Fiber One cereal variety: Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares. Quite honestly, healthy cereals are a necessary evil—but not always the most flavorful or enjoyable—and are nearly a tough sale to kids especially. Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares claims to offer a low fat, low calorie, healthy, fiber filled cereal—without sacrificing taste. What was the Mama's World family review of Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares Cereal?

Could we taste the fiber in Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares? Fiber rich, healthy cereals often taste like horse food. Seriously—most high fiber grains taste like high fiber grains. With Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares Cereal, the sweet honey taste did enhance the product’s flavor—but, there was still a bit of “gritty” fiber taste lurking after each bite. However, because of the honey, which my husband and kids love—I seemed to be the only one at odds with the taste. Perhaps I’d enjoy a different flavor since honey is not my one of my favorite ingredients in any recipe or dish.

Would the kids eat Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares? All three girls did eat and enjoy the cereal—a rarity in its own right. It was sweet enough to appeal to them and enough like other favorites such as Golden Grahams to draw them in.

Was Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares a satisfying breakfast? At only 80 calories, I had my doubts about the “stick to your ribs” meal—but, it was more filling than I had expected.  And--the fiber wasn't as..hmm..how shall we say this delicately...as productive as some high fiber cereals.

How does the cereal value stack up against other brands? Healthy foods are expensive. The fact that Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares is more often included in the sales and coupon circulars with other Fiber One products make it a reasonably affordable option compared to other healthy, fiber rich cereal options.

The overall Fiber One 80 Calories Honey Squares review? Four out of five people in Mama’s World liked the cereal—and mom, who didn’t like the taste, liked the nutritional value and the price. Would we buy it again? Yes. Would I like to see improvements? Sure--I would like to see additional flavors or varieties in the future. I would encourage readers to give it a taste—it’s not quite the same as the “fiber cereals” that you grew up with….but, it’s not entirely different either. So—see what you think and leave a comment to let others know!
