Black and Bleu Burger Recipe

There is just something about peppery spices, beef and creamy, crumbly bleu cheese that we adore here in A Mama's Corner of the World.  From black and bleu flavored ribeyes--or sliced, black and bleu sirloin steaks over spring mix salad greens to basic blackened spice coated, bleu cheese burgers--we love the flavor combinations.  Black and Bleu burgers are really easy to make, either indoors or outdoors--and offer a quick Friday night alternative to pricey takeout.

Ingredients for Black and Bleu Burgers
  • 1/3 c.  Blackened Spice
  • 1 Pound Ground Beef Chuck, Ground Sirloin or Lean Ground Turkey, Divided into quarter pound patties and flattened slightly
  • 4 Tbsp. Crumbled Bleu Cheese
  • 4 Tbsp. Bleu Cheese Salad Dressing
  • 4 Large Sesame Seed Buns, Toasted and Kept Warm
  • Topping Suggestions:  Sliced Red Tomatoes, Sliced Red Onions, Shredded Lettuce, Pickle Spears
How to Make Black and Bleu Burgers
  • Preheat Grill or Grill Pan.
  • Pour 1/3 c. recipe Blackened Spice into a shallow dish or onto a dinner plate.
  • Press the beef or turkey patties onto the blackened spice mixture, turn and press again to coat both sides of the burger patties with spice.
  • Grill burger patties to desired doneness.  Slight charring gives the well-known, blackened appearance.
  • Add Bleu Cheese.  Add a Tbsp. Bleu Cheese crumbles to the top of the burgers during the last 5-7 minutes of cooking.
  • Tops burgers and serve.  Place a burger on each of four toasted, warm bun bottoms.  Top each bleu cheese topped burger with a Tbsp. Bleu Cheese salad dressing, lettuce, tomato, and red onion.  Serve with additional bleu cheese dressing if desired.

Serve with Baked potatoes or steak cut french fries, a green salad and a pickle spear.
