Recipe for Frozen Peanut Butter Chocolate Bananas on a Stick

Today, we decided it was time to visit the letter C for Chocolate in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge with Frozen Peanut Butter Chocolate Bananas on a Stick. We use chocolate so often in recipes—but, with the girls all home for Spring Break--it is time for a healthier snack option using some of their favorite flavors. How about frozen bananas dipped in chocolate and Multi-Grain Peanut Butter Cheerios? The Cheerios give a peanut-like crunch and texture without the added fat.

Ingredients for Frozen Peanut Butter Chocolate Dipped Bananas on a Stick

3 Large, Firm Bananas, cut in half across the middle

6 oz. Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips, Melted

1 ½ c. Multi-Grain Peanut Butter Cheerios, Crushed

Skewers or Popsicle Sticks

Wax Paper Lined Baking Sheet

Instructions for Making Frozen Peanut Butter Chocolate Dipped Bananas on a Stick

Prepare the bananas for dipping. Carefully insert a popsicle stick or skewer at least ¾ of the way into the bananas.

Dip and coat the bananas. Gently dip each banana into chocolate and roll immediately into the crushed cheerios. A shallow plate or pie plate works well for rolling the bananas into the cheerios. Place the dipped and coated bananas onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper.

Freeze and serve. Place the bananas into the freezer for at least 2-3 hours or even covered overnight. Set out at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes prior to serving.
