Baby Comes Home by DR. PAUL Roumeliotis Offers Wonderful Parent Resource

Babies are not born with instruction manuals and this makes those early years both exciting and terrifying for parents and caregivers.   I recently had the opportunity to read and review Baby Comes Home by DR. PAUL Roumeliotis.  After three children and 20 years of parenting experiences--what was my review of Baby Comes Home by DR. PAUL Roumeliotis?

I received a complimentary copy of this book for use in my review.  You may also enter to win a copy of your own (and a $30 Influence Publishing Gift Card) at the end of this post!

Quick Summary of Baby Comes Home.  Unlike most baby care books, expert pediatrician and health communicator DR. PAUL Roumeliotis takes a unique approach by emphasizing what scientific advances have confirmed—that what happens early on in life affects one's overall health decades down the road.

Baby Comes Home communicates the latest science that explains how positive or negative early childhood experiences can have lifelong consequences. The book begins by describing the vital changes that occur in a baby's brain during the first 18 months. It then explores the new "Science of TLC", that shows how tender, loving, and caring relationships with babies help to positively shape their brains. The book then presents important practical information on safety in the home and outdoors, baby routines/patterns, immunizations, injury prevention, nutrition, and more. To complete this useful guide, DR.PAUL also reviews common baby care issues and concerns as well as illnesses and conditions commonly seen during the first few years of life.

Baby Comes Home provides a quick reference for concerned parents.  DR. PAUL discusses everything from baby's developmental milestones and childproofing to biting and behavioral concerns to feeding and immunizations. Each of my girls was very different in development and health.  Each one brought us the opportunity to "learn" about new child health and development concerns!  Two of the three had asthma, one had severe reflux, one attended daycare (and experienced everything from Fifth's Disease to Scarlet Fever), some were early on milestones, some late on other milestones. In the end, I think we have hit many of the issues addressed in this book over our 20 year parenting adventure--with more yet to come, I am sure!  This book offers a quick, vital reference to SO many of the common, early childhood concerns caregivers face.

Baby Comes Home covers many common, early childhood health risks.   DR. PAUL devotes a large section of the book to details on many childhood illnesses, infections and health risks commonly affecting infants and toddlers.  He addresses everything from asthma and bedbugs to Fifth's Disease and Whooping Cough--all in an easy to read, easy to understand format.  He discusses causes, prevention, diagnosis, and typical treatment options clearly and concisely.  I would actually recommend keeping this book long past the first 18 months as these conditions happen in later childhood years as well.  Baby Comes Home offers a very well developed resource to common--yet frightening for caregivers--childhood health concerns.

Would I recommend Baby Comes Home by DR. Paul Roumeliotis? Whether you're a parent, grandparent, or childcare provider, this book provides a wonderful resource for early childcare and development.  While the book is intended as a guide to the critical first 18 months of child development--it provides an excellent health resource for later years as well.  Even if you are an "experienced" parent--the information provided in this book will still offer you some benefit as each child is different.  You could certainly read the book from beginning to end--but, I would both read it and keep it on hand for later years as a refresher/reference as well.  Baby Comes Home is loaded with information to help parents get baby off to a good start in life--and face the many challenges and issues which may pop up along the way.

It is very satisfying for me to know that my information is so helpful...and ...Yes this is a reference guide that parents can refer to as needed..but i do hope that parents read the first section(at least) ahead of time..where I describe why the first 18 months are so important and the role of TLC!
