My Review

Raising Jess is a Heartwarming Page Turner. As Vickie tells her family's story--readers will find so much to love on every page. Readers will watch as Vickie and her husband Mitch learned not only to parent but to face the challenges and adversity presented by Jess's medical needs. I sat down, intending to read a few pages while waiting for my daughter after soccer conditioning. I found myself reading several pages while waiting--and rushing through dinner/staying up too late to finish the book. Vickie puts her heart into every page as she shares her family's ups and downs through the years of raising Jess.

I Love Rubin's Writing Style. As the author shares her story--she takes readers along the emotional journey from the time leading up to Jess's birth to the near present day. She tells the story simply and honestly--from fears and doubts to hopes and dreams. For parents facing similar stories as they embark on raising a child with special needs or rare conditions--I think reading this book would bring them a little inspiration and strength.

Would I Recommend Raising Jess by Vickie Rubin? If you enjoy memoirs and biographical novels that detail personal journeys through difficult times or medical challenges--Raising Jess should be on your reading list. Whether you are facing a similar situation as a family raising a child/children with disabilities--or facing other life struggles or challenges--you will find Vickie's story inspirational and impossible to put down.
