About the Book

Vivienne in Paris follows a young Parisian girl on a journey through Paris to find what makes her tick. Join Vivienne as she discovers the sights, smells, tastes, and sounds of the city that make her feel alive. What better place to explore, observe, and delight in her senses than Paris?

This book tells a story of mindfulness and insight into how the surrounding world can really move you. It unites curiosity, wonder, and marvel to enlighten, surprise, and tickle your deepest spirit. Sometimes it’s the smallest things that bring you the greatest joy.

My Review

Vivienne in Paris Introduces Mindfulness to Young Readers.  The idea of taking an afternoon to become a tourist in your own neighborhood or city and enjoy the sights, tastes, smells, and sounds that you often experience but may take for granted, is a great look at life for young readers. Introducing concepts of gratitude and mindfulness at a young age (or re-introducing them to adult caregivers and parent readers!) makes this an enjoyable read for various ages.
The Illustrations Match the Story Well to Bring Vivienne's City to Life. Readers will see the joy and wonder in Vivienne's expressions as she enjoys her usual Sunday activities through more mindful eyes. The soft illustrations bring feelings of peace and contentment to the story as readers experience some of Vivienne's favorite places in Paris.
Would I Recommend Vivienne in Paris by Maria Castellucci Moore I think this is the perfect book for families to read together or for a caregiver to read with a child. While the book could be read alone and appreciated by older elementary-aged children, I think it could be a perfect opportunity to introduce communities and enjoying life's typical habits to younger children in new ways.  While Vivienne explores her Paris neighborhood, readers may find an interest in re-exploring their own community or city.  It's a fun addition to a family library.
