Have a Creative Twinkies Recipe Idea? Submit a Recipe to #TwinkieCookbook

I wrote this post while participating in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Twinkies. I received samples and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

I grew up with Twinkies and other Hostess cakes appearing every now and then in the snack stash as my grandparents’ house.  When the news came a few years ago that production of Twinkies was slated to end--I realized that my two younger daughters had never (yes, NEVER) experienced a Twinkie.  NEVER HAD A TWINKIE?   Luckily, Twinkies are back on store shelves and my girls are free to experience them again--and creative cooks are free to use Twinkies in recipes and dessert creations.  Do you have a fun, unique, Twinkie recipe?  Hurry and submit your original Twinkie recipe to the TwinkiesRecipe Submission Page--and your recipe may be featured in the upcoming edition of The Twinkies Cookbook, set for release in 2015.

The girls and I had a lot of fun crafting (and sampling) and submitting our Twinkie Recipe!

Check out our Mint Chocolate Twinkie Cake

I've made a Mint Chocolate Poke Cakes for years.  Layers of homemade yellow cake, chocolate pudding, whipped cream and mint prove to be a hit at potlucks and family gatherings.  We decided to build our cake from sweet, cream filled Twinkies instead of a regular cake--and the results were a big hit with family and friends!  We thought that the extra bits of cream would both look and taste great in our cake--and the girls couldn't resist adding a little extra chocolate cookie crumbs as well!

We love cooking with the girls--and simple recipes with fun, familiar ingredients offer such wonderful kitchen inspiration.  I had so much fun choosing ingredients with the girls as we created our Twinkies Recipe Submission--and listening to everyone’s favorite ideas.  Chocolate and peanut butter, mint and chocolate, berries and cream, peanut butter and banana, bananas and caramel……Then we had to choose one dessert type…cake pops, ice cream cakes, pies, cakes, cupcakes, layered desserts….

We spent quite a lot of time simply settling on one recipe idea—and the girls have several ideas of their own still brewing for other dessert creations!
