Kathryn and William as they learn how to load the dishwasher properly and avoid inappropriate distractions at the table with the help of all their utensil friends. This second book in the Adventures of Forkman series is a great introduction to mealtime etiquette for readers of all ages.
The Adventures of Forkman: What's That Noise? Continues the Children's Series. We picked up this book, understanding that it was part of an etiquette/manner learning series for children. While this book introduces valuable life skills--we were confused a bit by the format. This book jumps in with Chapter 3. Perhaps, we were a little too caught up in the structure--but, we spent a few minutes trying to understand how we missed the first two chapters--and feeling a little "left out" since we hadn't read the first book and didn't have a copy of it to "fill in the blanks." For anyone picking up the book by itself--a standalone book divided into two short story chapters--I think the chapter numbers (and the missing chapters) take something away from a book that would have otherwise been quite complete.
The Adventures of Forkman: What's That Noise? if a Fun Way to Introduce some Mealtime Lessons. While I don't think loading the dishwasher is a "manners" related topic--it is undoubtedly a skill that children can learn early and fits well with the Forkman character. Kids will enjoy the book and the fun characters as they navigate the world of mealtime sounds that should--and shouldn't--be heard.
Would I Recommend The Adventures of Forkman: What's That Noise? by Tiffany Caldwell and WR MacKenzie? Readers should understand that the book is part of a series--and it may be best to have both books on hand to read to avoid the "chapter number confusion" issue. I liked the book for younger children. I think it is a fun way to introduce everyday life lessons related to the kitchen and mealtime.

Tiffany Caldwell: I have worked with children for over thirteen years and every year basic manners become less evident. When I was growing up, my sisters and I took etiquette classes during the summer while we visited our grandparents. Etiquette was always a big part of our upbringing. When we would have our family dinners, my dad, W.R. MacKenzie, would make our utensils come to life as we were eating. Forkman became a part of our dinner routine! I am a mother of three great kids and military wife to my hero. A few years ago, I told my dad we needed to start writing our story. We are so excited to share Forkman with the world!
