As many of you know, I am a Purex Insider—which means that I occasionally have the opportunity to sample and review the new Purex laundry products. Recently, the New and Improved Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent hit store shelves. When I received a full sized bottle to review—it came at a time when one of our girls was sick with a stomach virus and I was doing tons of laundry—so it was quickly put to a rather tough review in A Mama’s Corner of the World!
I have said before that aside from hand washing silverware and maybe matching socks, laundry is my least favorite job. With three active girls, nearly every day yields two outfits—and sometimes three. White laundry is always a struggle for me. Although I know that some of the girls t-shirts and socks are clean—they often have that dull, blah look. The thought of really, bright white t-shirts, polos and socks would make me happy! To further complicate my laundry struggles, my youngest daughter has asthma—which limits a lot of scented items in the house and my middle one has extremely sensitive skin that reacts to virtually any dye or non-hypoallergenic detergent. Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent boasts Bright-White-Clean on its package—with no dyes or perfumes. That sounds like just what I needed!
What would Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent do for my laundry day? When I review a product, I look at three basic factors: (1) Ease of use—Moms are busy and many products are used during chaotic multitasking and must be easy to obtain and use. (2) Product quality. I don’t have time or cash to waste on poor quality products. It needs to do what it says as best as can be expected, and needs to be appealing. (3) Value. Obviously, in today’s economy, the product must be worth its price tag. How did Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent stand up to my mom review?
Was Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent easy to use? The liquid detergent is just the same as usual detergents with clear instructions and an easy to read cap for dispensing the detergent. Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent is safe for both standard and HE washing machines. The product certainly passed the ease of use test!
How do we rate the quality of Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent? As I mentioned, when I received the product, my five year old was sick with a stomach virus. Because of that, I was washing a variety of pajamas, sheets, bedding, towels and washcloths over a two day period—both colors and whites. I used Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent in every load from delicates through bath towels and jeans. I also generally use only cold water for my laundry—and that also toughens the review for many laundry products. Even as busy as I was with a little, sick one—I immediately noticed a brightness difference in my first load of white sheets and washcloths. It truly was a striking difference from my usual results! The product was also completely scent-free—and my two little sensitive ones noticed no ill effects from the change in detergent.
Is it worth the price? Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent retail prices range greatly depending on place of purchase. Recently, however, I was able to buy it on sale for less than $3.00 for the 33 load bottle—that’s about half the price of my usual detergent’s sale price! I think it is well worth the price!
Final thoughts on Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent? It was easy to use, it was more affordable than my usual detergent, it really made a drastic change in the bright, clean appearance of my white laundry and I loved the free and clear option. I have actually replaced my usual detergent for most of my laundry with Purex® Triple Action Free & Clear Detergent based on my review experiences.
Purex will be launching a free sample site, at FreeSamplePurex.com, early in 2012 to let consumers try out laundry products before buying them. We’ll try to let you when that happens!
