The synopsis of Plagues of Eden had my attention at "unleashing plagues of Egypt against the modern world"...I love such stories and really looked forward to reading this book. What was my review of Plagues of Eden?
Quick Summary of Plagues of Eden. The Wheel Spins. Chaos is Unleashed. DEATH OF THE FIRSTBORN… 72 HOURS AND COUNTING. The race is on to stop a madman bent on unleashing the ancient plagues of Egypt against the modern world. Tel-Al-Balamum, Egypt. The dig of an ancient temple is decimated by fiery hail from the heavens. And that’s only the beginning. Buenos Aires. Paris. West Point. The countdown has begun. Only Army Chaplain Jaime Richards, along with rock star Mark Shepard, can stop the catastrophe and save the mysterious Sword 23 from the clutches of a psychopath... if they can find the true mastermind in time.
Plagues of Eden is the 4th Book of The Eden Thrillers Series. While the cover and the summary really do not hint at the fact that this book is the 4th book in a series--it is. When I first began reading, I felt like I was missing something. I was sort of dumped into a fast paced, action adventure novel--and felt a little lost. I was missing something--the first three books of the series! While this book is a stand alone novel (sort of--as it does leave readers hanging a bit at the end)--it randomly catches readers up in bits and pieces on the past books throughout the book. You don't need to read the other books first--but, it would certainly help you connect with the characters, develop better understandings of the character dynamics and hit the book ready for the adventures.
Plagues of Eden is a wonderful international mystery. I love books that jet readers around the world solving mysteries and puzzles--and books that create links between Biblical or ancient references and modern day. I loved the plot twists and turns and the fast pace of this book. The authors create a wonderful story and keep readers interested through to the very last page.
Would I recommend Plagues of Eden? I loved this book and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I would recommend reading the first three books first--and realize that, while this novel is a stand alone book, it ends with some loose ends for a future book. If you enjoy international mysteries/puzzles--this storyline is a very good one.
