About the Book

Bentley and the Magic Sticks follows this extra-large canine as he finds out that his favorite sticks have magical powers, thanks to a wonderful Fairy Dogmother called Tia! Because other dogs are afraid of his large size Bentley has no one to play with. However, with his magic sticks he manages to make new friends and he also discovers the special secret of why he is so big.

 

 

My Review

Lovable Dog with a Great Story for Children. The author and illustrator created an incredible story with a big, sweet dog that children and caregivers are sure to love. Bentley's emotions and personality shine through, and readers will undoubtedly wish they could give him a big hug and be his friend! The story is the perfect story to launch a classroom lesson on friendship and acceptance--or for families seeking to talk with young elementary students about making friends and being kind to others.

 

Would I Recommend Bentley and the Magic Sticks by Claire Eckard? Bentley and the Magic Sticks is the perfect book for families or caregivers with younger elementary-aged readers. I would definitely recommend it as a read-along or a classroom story because there is so much to be found in Bentley's book! It is a fun book with magic, adorable dogs, and some life lessons for readers. I look forward to reading and sharing future adventures and lessons with Bentley!
