Christmas has always been my favorite holiday to celebrate as a family. The magic and beauty of the season gives memories that I will forever cherish! While the Faith aspects of the holiday are our priorities--I would be lying if I said that the magic and wonder of Santa Claus did not share a bit of the spotlight. Our holiday has changed a bit as our girls have grown older--and it was sad to see them lose some of the Santa inspired magic over the years. Today, I have lovely children's book to share that just may help families keep the magic of Christmas in perspective for older children! Check out Keeping Christmas Magic, learn about authors Anna and Gunnar Counselman, read my thoughts on the book and be sure to enter for a chance to win a prize in the book tour giveaway at the end of this post.

About the Book
Shhhh, don’t tell! Keeping Christmas Magic reveals the true story of Santa Claus, asking you to become a Christmas Magic-Keeper.
My Review
Keeping Christmas Magic is For Older Children. This book is really written for children who already know some of the "truth" about Santa. It is also for parents who want to "redirect" the truth and magic of Santa a bit for their family. Younger children can certainly read the book--so you may want to keep it out of the hands of little Santa believers for a while longer!
Readers will Find Simple Illustrations and Santa History. Through pages of poetry and illustrations, Anna and Gunnar share a bit about the history of Santa--and the ways that families can preserve the secrets and magic for little ones now and in the future. It is a lovely way to talk about how and why children come to doubt Santa and ways to keep the energy and wonder of Christmas morning alive for others.
Would I Recommend Keeping Christmas Magic by Anna and Gunnar Counselman? Keeping Christmas Magic is a lovely book for families with older children ready to talk about the truth behind Santa and his elves! Keep in mind that it does share the Christmas secret, but it offers a great conversation for families entering this chapter of belief with older children!
Meet the Authors
Anna and Gunnar are the husband-and-wife team behind Keeping Christmas Magic. Anna immigrated from Russia at age 12 and began her American journey in Swampscott, MA, attending Boston University before moving out to California to pursue her entrepreneurial career which has culminated in her co-founding Upstart, an AI lending platform.
A third-generation Marine, Gunnar grew up pretty much everywhere there's a Marine base before going to Cornell for undergrad, deploying as a Human Intelligence Officer to Iraq, the Horn of Africa and Bosnia before attending Harvard for business school. Gunnar's entrepreneurial career has focused in education software and services where he's founded and invested in a
handful of companies including his most recent company, Array.
When their then-six-year-old son Tristan started asking hard questions about Santa, they didn't have good answer. Wanting to keep Christmas as magical as possible for as long as possible they looked for a children's book to help and when they couldn't find one, they wrote it.
Originally, the poem was just for Tristan and his baby sister Sasha, but some close friends convinced them to submit it for publishing and the more they worked on the story, the more they felt like it needed to be told. They hope that the book does for parents around the world, what's it's done for them, help make an otherwise difficult conversation a
beautiful experience instead.
