Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas Movie Review and Prize Pack Giveaway

Seeing Christmas decorations and gift guides and Santa and his Elves before Halloween bothers me.  A lot.  It also bothers me that Black Friday shopping (theoretically for Christmas) has overtaken the significance of Thanksgiving.  As I sat bothered by the commercialization of our family holidays and even of the entire fall/winter seasons--I received the opportunity to preview and review the latest film from Kirk Cameron, Saving Christmas.  I am happy to share Saving Christmas with you--it changed my perspectives a bit on how we are celebrating Christmas!  Take the opportunity to learn more about this fun, family Christmas film--and enter to win a Saving Christmas movie prize pack.

I received an advanced screening link to review the film from Provident Films and Fly By Promotions.  All opinions and experiences are my own.

Quick Summary of Saving Christmas.  This Christmas, have your family join with Kirk Cameron’s family and dive headfirst into all the joy, dancing, celebration, feasting, imagination, and traditions that glorify the true “reason for the season.”  KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS  is an engaging story that provides a biblical basis for our time-honored traditions and celebrations, and the inspiration to stand strongly against a culture that wants to trivialize and eliminate the faith elements of this holy season. So take in the splendor; take in the majesty; take in the story. Take it all in… and let’s put Christ back in Christmas!

Why Saving Christmas?  I had a wonderful opportunity to join in on a teleconference call with Kirk Cameron last week to hear his thoughts and motivations on, not only the film, but on his life, family, faith and--why Saving Christmas is so important to him.  You can actually listen to the Question and Answer segment of the teleconference--and I think you will become as interested as I was to watch Saving Christmas.

What did my family think of Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas?  I wasn't sure what to expect from the film.  I wasn't sure how a comedy theme was going to "work" in an effort to put Christ back in Christmas.  Yet, it did work.  The movie approached our Christmas traditions--and their Biblical roots--from the perspectives of a modern family.  We were educated a bit about St. Nicholas, Christmas trees and materialism--and encouraged to put our over the top celebrations into a different perspective.  It isn't really about saving Christmas from non-believers or from commercialization....it's about learning about the reasons behind some of our modern glitz and celebrations--and keeping the reasons for those in our minds and hearts.

Would I recommend Saving Christmas?  If you are feeling a little bah-humbug--and worry that Christmas has lost its religious significance--this is a chance to refocus and put the season into a different light.  I will admit--the kids enjoyed some of the humor more than I did.  In the end, we enjoyed taking the time to learn a little about some of our seemingly, non-religious, Christmas traditions as a family.
