Book Review: Do It With Words: Regrow your Hair with your Mind by Kfir Luzzatto

DoitWithWords_cover_final The mind is a very powerful tool--and it has potential beyond that which we know.  I am an extreme believer in the power of positive thinking--so, when I was offered the opportunity to read and review the latest book from Kfir Luzzatto, Ph.D, I was excited to read and learn a little more about deeper mind-body connections.  What did I think of Regrow your Hair with your Mind:  Do It with Words by Kfir Luzzatto?

I received a complimentary copy of this book for use in my review.  All opinions are my own.

A quick summary of Regrow your Hair with your Mind.  Regrow Lost Hair and Restore Its Natural Color to Gray Hair - Do It With Your Mind.  Do It With Words - No "Magic" Potions Or Lotions Needed. Do It With Words is a straightforward guide into the power of your mind. The author, a former skeptic, who reformed after witnessing how mind-body practices deliver tangible results, provides visual proof and a precise blueprint of the mind-body experiment in which he succeeded in his attempt to regrow lost hair and to restore its natural color to gray hair.

The book describes in precise detail how the author: Regrew lost hair; restored its natural, dark brown color to his previously white hair;used self-hypnosis, guided imagery and meditation to achieve all results without the aid of any external preparation.

Okay--the scientist in me is a skeptic...but...I will be honest, I may not have agreed to read this book had it been written by an unfamiliar author.   I have read several of Luzzatto's books and his thought processes are very logical (in part because he too has a scientific and legal mind) and I was as intrigued by the possibilities as I was to read his analysis of his procedures and results in his mind-body test.  While I cannot truly attest to the details--or guarantee that following his method will produce the same results for others (there's that scientist coming out again)--the possibilities of his project go far beyond hair growth and reversing grey hair.  This book opened the door (and my mind) to a whole series of thought and research into a new realm of possibilities.

Luzzatto offers a lot of detail--and a lot of insight.  This book isn't a simple, "I did this...and you can too" story of changing the body.  He didn't just decide to embark on this little experiment on a whim--he did a lot of research.  He offers a lot of background into the subject--and suggests a number of authors and studies which inspired his work (and answered a lot of his own questions and doubts).  Even if you aren't seeking to regrow hair--there are a lot of insights into the mind-body connection offered  and this book could certainly open a door to a new area of study or interest for you.

Would I recommend Regrow your Hair with your Mind by Kfir Luzzatto?  I'm not plagued by thinning hair; although there are a few grey hairs sprouting here and there--so I won't be using the book to attempt to duplicate Luzzatto's hair successes.  I do; however, believe that there is a lot of untapped potential in our mind-body connections and I think Luzzatto does a wonderful job introducing the concept to both skeptics and to those simply unaware of the possibilities.  There are certainly other areas of my life which could benefit from mind-body balance.  It is a well organized, well written book that may just offer you an alternative treatment--or an alternate path toward a physical goal.

About Kfir Luzzatto

KfirI was born and raised in Italy, and moved to Israel as a teenager. I acquired my love for the English language from my father, a former U.S. soldier and WWII veteran, a voracious reader, and a prolific writer. I have a PhD in chemical engineering and I work as a patent attorney. I am a recipient of the prestigious Landau Award for Research and have been granted several patents for my own inventions. I live in Omer, Israel, with my full-time partner, Esther, our four children, Michal, Lilach, Tamar, and Yonatan, and the dog Elvis.

I published extensively in the professional and general press over the years. For almost four years I wrote a weekly “Patents” column in Globes (Israel’s financial newspaper). My non-fiction book, The World of Patents, was published in 2002 by Globes Press. I am the author of several short stories and of six novels. I am an HWA (Horror Writers Association) and ITW (International Thriller Writers) member and I also serve on the editorial board of The Harrow Press as Anthology Editor.

I became interested in mind-body practices a few years ago, after witnessing how my son got rid of a persistent viral wart with guided imagery. How I decided to initiate the ambitious experiment that finally led me to regrow lost hair and to turn the clock back on my hair age, restoring the original color to it, is a long story that unfolds in the book.
