Quick Summary of Asia's New Wings by Clifton and Dr. Michelle Cottom. Asia Cottom lived eleven short years on this earth. Her tragic death on Flight #77 on 9/11 is forever etched in the hearts of the countless people who loved her. But her wise and influential life, her positive attitude, and profound faith in God are her true legacy.

You may love God with all your heart and soul, yet not understand what He is doing. In Asia’s New Wings, Clifton and Dr. Michelle Cottom, along with family and friends, walk beside you, sharing their thoughts and offering compassion to help you come to a place of acceptance, when trying to make sense of suffering great loss. The people in this book have learned to come to terms with what God allows, and are now in a place where they can help heal others. If you have gone—or are going through—the “valley of despair,” you will find comfort and empathy from those who care. You will also find hope and the strength to move forward as you rediscover your life.

What Asia's parents and all those who loved her went through, healed from, and learned will bring comfort and relief to those who travel down the road of loss. Reading and experiencing Asia's story will truly bring healing and life to all who turn these pages.

Asia's New Wings takes readers into the Cottom family's lives. This book wanders through memories and events of the Cottom family--and revisits conversations and moments from the years both before Asia's death and after. The scenes do not follow a chronological order--they enter the memoir in waves. Sometimes as memories--sometimes to offer hope and encouragement through difficult times--sometimes as simple realizations dawning.

Asia's New Wings is an emotional story. Asia's New Wings brought tears from the first pages. An exciting morning turned so wrong--and it could have been any of our children sitting in Asia's seat on that plane. The Cottom's share their emotions and their responses--both good and bad--over the years following 9/11. Anger, depression, exhaustion, love, faith and hope dot the pages. I am sure that it was difficult to put words to some of the feelings--and to find the courage to both pull through and move forward as the family has done.

Would I recommend Asia's New Wings? The Cottom family is sharing their daughter and their emotional journey with the world. The book is one of hope and recovery--and one of great sadness and loss. The Cottom's journey hasn't been a perfect one--nor an easy one. Sharing Asia's story--and the stories of the impact of 9/11 on the Cottom family and their friends and family--allows for healing. Asia's New Wings shows how one family found a way through tragedy to create something hopeful and positive.
