Book Review: Diary of a Single Wedding Planner & a Giveaway

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000040_00001] Once upon a time--I thought it would be a lot of fun to be a wedding planner.  After being involved in the weddings of a few friends--and my own wedding--I decided that it was more fun to watch the finished product than handle the day to ups and downs of wedding planning.  When I had the opportunity to read and review, Diary of a Single Wedding Planner by Violet Howe--I knew that it had to find a spot on my reading list.  What did I think of Diary of a Single Wedding Planner?

I received a complimentary copy of this book for use in my blog review.  All opinions are my own. We are also sharing the book tour giveaway for this book at the end of this post.

Quick Summary of Diary of a Single Wedding Planner.  Wedding planner Tyler Warren left heartbreak behind when she ran away from her small Southern hometown and started a new life in a big city. Years later, she wants to believe in the fairy-tale endings her job promotes, but the clients she meets day after day seem to be more “Crazily Ever After” than “Happily Ever After.” Meanwhile, her own attempts at romance play out as bizarre comedies rather than love stories, and she’s starting to think Prince Charming either fell off his horse or got eaten by a dragon. When unresolved issues from Tyler’s past complicate things even further, she discovers she may yet have some things to figure out before she can find her own happy ending. This delightful first book in the Tales Behind the Veils series chronicles Tyler’s wacky misadventures, both personal and professional. Whether she’s getting insane requests from brides or outlandish requests on dates, you’re sure to be charmed and entertained by the Diary of a Single Wedding Planner.

Howe captures the ups and downs of wedding planning--and relationships.  The author sets the story so that the main character's personal relationship ups and downs are told along with stories from her wedding planning clients.  As Tyler works out her own personal misadventures--her days are influenced by the happenings around her.  While many of her client interactions border on the odd and the humorous--there is some "happily ever after" thrown in as well.

Readers will not want the story to end.  Not because the story isn't finished...or because something is lacking.  Readers will not want the story to end because Howe's storytelling really draws readers into Tyler's world.  From smiling through the wedding planning adventures to sympathizing with some of the thoughts and emotions; readers will be drawn to the characters--and toward hoping for a happy ending.  This is one of those books that I enjoyed so much that I didn't want to leave the characters behind at the end.  This was the perfect series opener for Tales Behind The Veils.

Would I recommend Diary of a Single Wedding Planner by Violet Howe?  This was a fun, romantic comedy.  The wedding client stories capture the emotions of real-world weddings--and they serve as the perfect side stories for the main character's personal relationship woes.  I enjoyed the author's writing style, I became attached to her characters--and I would definitely read future volumes from this series.
