Mama Finished the Yoplait Light Two Week Tune Up!

As many of you may remember, after learning about the Yoplait Light Two Week Tune Up plan during a virtual press conference a few months ago, I decided to put the plan to the test in Mama’s Corner of the World to kick off my New Year’s weight loss resolution. Well—in true Mama’s World fashion, my original plan did not go as intended. I came down with a case of bronchitis two days into the diet…followed with a series of three sick kids…then a sick husband…then we all repeated the process a few times with various other Ohio winter inspired ailments and the diet went by the wayside. So—two weeks ago, I gave the Yoplait Light Two Week Tune Up another shot. I just finished the Plan on Monday—so, how did it go?

If you aren’t familiar with the Yoplait Light Two Week Tune Up, check out my original post for the details. As a mini recap, the plan seeks to help participants change up diet habits, increase daily exercise, and look and feel better in only two weeks—even losing up 5 pounds.

Well?

Okay, first of all, I am not a structured diet plan fan in general—I do not like strict eating guidelines, they just do not fit the crazy pace of things here in the real world. That being said, the Yoplait Light Two Week Tune Up had just enough flexibility and options that even I was able to stick to it for the full two weeks. I will also admit that I tried many of the Yoplait site’s recipe suggestions—and most of the yogurt flavors—with success. By the end of the two weeks, I had lost 5.4 pounds—nothing Earth shattering as far as my goal to drop 25 pounds—but, it was certainly a step in the right direction!

Participating in the Yoplait Light Two Week Tune Up did help me identify and break some of my “bad” eating habits. (Such as polishing off Miss Lynnie’s lunch leftovers—or dipping into the cookie jar mid afternoon…unfortunately, it seems that I did both far more often than I realized!) Now that I have finished the plan, I find it much easier, and almost a new habit, to reach for a yogurt or a piece of fruit in the afternoon instead—and I know that my body is appreciating the extra calcium and healthier meals as well!

As a part of the plan, a daily 30-40 minute walk is required. After the two weeks, in spite of the Central Ohio rain and yuck, my husband and I are now taking a daily walk with Mister Max, the resident pound hound. We all need the exercise, the time out—and it’s serving double duty as some much needed couple time. Chris had joked initially that we needed a “diet and lifestyle” overhaul rather than just a “tune up”—but, now agrees that Yoplait Light Two Week Tune Up gave us the motivation that we needed to at least begin our path to change!

  1. I eat Yoplait yogurt as a snack every day. I don't reach for high-fat snacks.

  2. I am in the process of making a habit out of reaching for a glass of V-8 juice at least once a day instead of snacking on empty calories. Need to add some walking to my daily routine, too.

  3. I've heard a lot of success in dieting comes from increasing calcium, so I can see why the Yoplait diet might work; however, I'm weary of any diet that is just two weeks long. Thanks for sharing.
