Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a Hint of Honey Nut Review

Cereal is a daily feature on our busy morning breakfast menus at least four days a week. The girls usually enjoy cold cereals most days, while my husband eats a daily bowl of warm oatmeal. I am always on the lookout for healthy options in flavors that the girls like to fill balance some not-so-healthy kid-branded cereals. I was recently offered the opportunity to sample and review the new Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a hint of Honey Nut. How did Honey Nut Quaker Oatmeal Squares cereal stand up to review in A Mama’s Corner of the World?

Why were we excited to sample and review Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a Hint of Honey Nut? Quaker Oatmeal Squares offers 46 grams of whole grains, only .5 grams of saturated fat, 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber in every serving. From a health standpoint—this mom really liked those statistics. If Quaker Oatmeal Squares cereal offered family appealing taste as well, it would be a great substitute for less healthy cereals and snacks.

How did Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a Hint of Honey Nut taste? Not to sound like a kid—but, some healthy cereals taste like healthy cereals. Or rather, they taste mostly like grains and little like anything I want in a bowl with milk. I was actually extremely pleased to discover that Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a Hint of Honey Nut cereal was nothing like other whole grain, fiber rich, “healthy” cereals that I had tried. I was expected a gritty, grainy aftertaste—and there was not one. In fact, I would compare the taste to sweet granola pieces (without the fruit and nuts) rather than to most similar cereals on the market. As I have mentioned before—while everyone in the family loves honey, it is one of my least favorite foods. That wasn’t the case with this cereal. The honey sweetness was light and was well balanced by the grains.

Would the kids eat Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a Hint of Honey Nut? The girls love oatmeal and granola and honey—so the flavors were in line with their tastes. I was surprised that the two younger girls preferred the cereal dry rather than with milk—so it because a pack-along snack for those after school dance classes for both of them as well.

Was Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a Hint of Honey Nut a satisfying breakfast? Quaker Oatmeal Squares is fiber, protein, and calorie packed. We all found that it left us feeling full with one regular serving.

How does the Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a Hint of Honey Nut cereal value compare with other brands? Moms know that healthy cereals are expensive. When comparing Quaker brands to similar cereals, it was more than comparable for its value.

The overall Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a Hint of Honey Nut review? As a family, we liked the cereal’s taste—as a mom, I liked the nutritional value and was not discouraged by the price. I especially liked that the girls were willing to ditch some less healthy snack options for the dry cereal. Would we buy this cereal again? Yes. I would like to try other flavor options, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon and Golden Maple, as well.
