Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe

I love Autumn.  Actually, I love cinnamon and cloves, the colors orange and brown, crunchy leaves, and fall comfort foods—especially pumpkin desserts and spicy pumpkin lattes.  I know that every coffee shop, doughnut shop and bakery within driving distance serves a seasonal pumpkin latte of some sort—but, sometimes I would like to make one at home instead. Sometimes to save $$$.  Sometimes--because those artificial flavorings give me migraines.  Sometimes--because I just don't want to leave the house on a chilly fall morning! This is my absolute favorite, easy, basic recipe for a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

We originally posted a version of this recipe in 2012--and have updated the recipe and our ingredient favorites.  Please note that, while we are not compensated for this post--we may receive slight compensation if you choose to purchase products via our product links below.  All opinions are our own--and we only link to products and ingredients that we use and/or recommend in our recipes and posts.

Pumpkin Spice Latte in a white cup
It’s great because you can adjust the sugar, adjust the fat content of the milk, add more or less pumpkin (you will taste only a hint of it in this version) or increase (or decrease) the spices.

Ingredients for our Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe
2 c. Skim Milk
1 Tbsp. Sugar or Stevia (This drink is not very sweet—so you may wish to add additional sugar.)
1/8 tsp. Cloves
¼ tsp. Cinnamon
1/8 tsp. Ginger
Dash of Nutmeg
½ c. Strong Coffee or ¼ c. Espresso
Whipped Cream and Ground Cinnamon for Garnish (optional)

Instructions for a Pumpkin Spice Latte:
Mix the pumpkin base.  Combine the milk, pumpkin, and sugar in a small saucepan.  Whisk thoroughly and heat until milk mixture is steaming.
Spice it up and blend.  Add the Vanilla and spices.  Transfer to a blender or use a hand blender to blend the mixture until it is foamy.
Add the Coffee or Espresso.  Pour the milk mixture into two large cups—filling about 2/3 full.  Add ¼ c. hot coffee or 1 Tbsp of the espresso to the top.
Garnish and serve.  Top each mug of pumpkin pie spiced latte with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon.  Serve warm.

Enjoy!
