Book Giveaway: Win a Book from Fanfare for a Hometown by Rick Niece

One of my favorite ways to spend a chilly Winter evening is curled up in front of the fireplace with a good book—and usually a cat or two on my lap.  We read a lot of books here in A Mama’s Corner of the World!  Over the past year, I have reviewed several here on this site—and have read too many to count.  I am excited to let you know that I have the opportunity to offer my readers the chance to win a book from Fanfare for a Hometown—one my latest, favorite, book series by Dr. Rick Niece.
A little about Fanfare for a Hometown.  Dr. Niece grew up in a small Central Ohio town named DeGraff—and has written a wonderful series of books based on his memories, experiences and reflections on his hometown and the friends and neighbors so important to his past—and present.  As many of you know, I grew up in a small town (a little smaller than Niece’s DeGraff) and, as I continue to grow up, I realize just how valuable those small town lessons were to the person I am today—and how much of a role they play as I raise my own daughters in the suburbs of Columbus.

Fanfare for a Hometown includes Side Yard Superhero and The Band Plays On.  I reviewed both books this year—and loved them both.  Side Yard Superhero takes a look at growing up in DeGraff, Ohio, and introduces readers to many of the friends and neighbors that Niece encountered as a boy—especially Bernie Jones, a wheelchair bound  youth with severe cerebral palsy, who became a surprising hero and friend to the author.  The Band Plays On follows Niece and his memories as he returns home to DeGraff for a high school band reunion honoring the school district’s long time music director, Niece’s own father.

Would you like to visit DeGraff and stroll down your own memory lanes via a Rick Neice book?  These are light, fun books—I loved both of them and cannot say enough positive things about Niece’s writing style and his voice.  Whether you grew up in a small town or a close-knit neighborhood in the city—there is likely a character in the Fanfare for a Hometown that brings back loads of memories and a smile or two.  Check out my review of Side Yard Superhero and The Band Plays On—and take a look at www.rickniecebooks.com to read more about the author and his work—then enter to win a copy of your choice of one of the books via the Rafflecopter Prize Raffle Entry below.  Either of these would make a great stocking stuffer or gift for the book lover on your holiday gift list!
