Our Health Affects Our Lives More Than we Realize
"I believe the greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you." --Joyce Meyer
We all know that when someone in our house gets sick--with even a 24 hour flu bug or a common cold--it throws an entire week out of whack. If someone becomes ill with a more serious disease or illness--it greatly affects our lives and our personal contributions to both family and the world around us.
If we viewed our personal health as a priority--rather than an afterthought somewhere below playdates for the kids and laundry--we could be present and productive in many more days of our lives!
Health is About More than Weight and Blood Pressure
"A healthy attitude is contagious--but, don't wait to catch it from others. Be a Carrier." -Tom Stoppard
Sometimes we get so caught up in weight loss and seeking to fix poor numbers from doctor's office lab reports and checkups--that we forget that there is more to "health" than weight and blood pressure! In order to be truly "healthy"--we need to manage the health of our attitudes as well.
It's okay to be positive. It's okay to motivate others.
It's okay to be positive. It's okay to motivate others.
We Take Health for Granted--Until it's Gone
Tomorrow is a crutch for me when it comes to my health. I simply never seem to put a healthy me at the top of my to-do list.
I will eat better tomorrow. I will start a manageable exercise plan tomorrow.
I will have the tests that the doctor wants done in a month or so.
Someday, I am going to run out of "tomorrows". We all are. Someday, when I am ready to knock a few items off my bucket list--I may not be healthy enough to do some of those activities. I may never even have the time--or health--to try any of them. If I keep putting my life off until "tomorrow".
The time to pay attention to health living and goal centered living is NOW. Not tomorrow. Not next week or next month.
Health or Wealth?
So often we sacrifice our health in our mad dash pursuit of wealth--or status. While we rush to keep up with--or pass--those in our circles--we forget the value of our health to our future.
While we may have money and things for our future--what if we aren't healthy enough to enjoy those things?
Again--I think we simply don't appreciate the value of health until it's too late to repair years of damage.
Health from Within?
My goal is to improve many areas of my life. My health is the basic building block upon which my entire life is built. My goal is to improve my health from within--rather than treating symptoms of illnesses brought on by an unhealthy lifestyle.
It's a new year. A new week. And I have a new opportunity to re-prioritize my life and my goals. It just seems right that I start within myself and build the rest of my goals from there!
Here is to a healthy, new year--and a healthier, new me!
