Why did you decide to write
Short Stories?
When I was growing up, I was forced to read. Like most kids
in School reading was not the assignment I looked forward to the most. There
may have been a book or two I enjoyed (Of Mice and Men being one of them), but
for the most part, reading for me was a chore.
When I became an adult, I didn’t pursue reading as a pastime
or hobby. The moment I was no longer forced to read I put down books and swore
them off. This was obviously a bad idea, and one that I now regret later in
life. So what does this have to do with writing short stories?
Realizing now that reading needs to be in my life because I
can learn so much from just simply doing it, I found myself only wanting to
read shorter exerts of a book at a time. Some people I know can swallow books
in a weekend and move on to the next one, where as I prefer to take my sweet
time.
This made me realize that a book of short stories, seven to
be accurate, would be great not only for readers like me, but also for those
that like to digest an entire book quickly. I was able to write something that
pleases both spectrums and I think that is why I enjoy writing short stories as
much as I do. You can still get the satisfaction of an entire story, and you
don’t have to go through 600 pages to do it. It’s a win win.
So with that thought in mind, I hope you really enjoy this
book. I wrote it with you in mind!
