About the Book

Do you like smearing your lunch all over yourself? Do you fight with your sister just because she's there? Do you find yourself unable to go to bed because mysterious ninjas keep stealing your pajamas? Then you're a little monster! Guess what: Mom can be a monster too! It's up to you to make your mom's monster come out to play . . .

My Review

This book brings smiles to all ages.   I think the title alone makes this book appeal to nearly everyone.  As a mom, reading this book certainly brought back memories of those toddler/little one days when my girls managed to accomplish most of the book's "recommendations" on at least a daily basis.  Little readers (or listeners) will find it funny and giggle even more at the illustrations--and older readers will likely shine a sly, all-knowing smile as they remember trying out some of these antics!

How to Turn Your Mom into a Monster offers a message too.  While the little ones will enjoy the trouble making, little monsters portrayed in the book--they will also enjoy knowing that no matter how much trouble they (or the book's little monsters) create during the day--Mom is still able to turn into a cuddly monster at bedtime.

Would I recommend How to Turn Your Mom into a Monster?  This is a fun, bedtime story that opens the door for a lot of playful conversation during story time.  We loved the "Reason Chart" for coming up with new reasons for avoiding bedtime.  The author incorporates bright colors, fun illustrations and familiar scenes for parents and kids alike.  This is a really cute book that families could read again and again.
