Light Bulb Baking by Todd Coopee Book Review

By on 11/12/2013 05:41:00 AM

With three daughters, I think the Easy Bake® Oven brings back the most memories for me--both as a mom and as a child.  Do you remember your first Easy Bake® Oven?  Even if you didn't have one as a child, the odds are good that you bought one for your own child.  We were excited to host a review of Light Bulb Baking by Todd Coopee!  What did we think of Light Bulb Baking?

We received a complimentary copy of this book for use in our review.  We may also receive slight compensation from sales from affiliate linking in this post.

Quick overview of Light Bulb Baking by Todd Coopee.  This first definitive retrospective of the Easy Bake® Oven celebrates its journey from children's toy to pop culture icon and inductee to The National Toy Hall of Fame. The book explores the innovation, history, economics, commerce, advertising, and marketing behind the toy’s 50 year history. This book is a must read for vintage toy collectors, nostalgia buffs, foodies, and anyone who has ever peered through the oven's watch it bake window, eagerly anticipating the moment they will be able to serve and enjoy their very own culinary concoction.

Light Bulb Baking combines historical facts and brightly colored photos.  Light Bulb Baking is loaded with information, nostalgic photos, facts, trivia--and is presented in fun, brightly colored pages that just make readers smile and reflect.  I found myself saying both, "Oh, I remember that...." and "Huh, I didn't know that..." throughout the book.  Readers can easily search for "their" Easy Bake® Ovens--or the ones owned by the kids--in the chronologically organized text--or enjoy all of the history of the toy from start to finish.

Light Bulb Baking is a great coffee table, conversation book.  I have yet to have a guest over that didn't reach immediately for the book!  "I had that one!"  It brings smiles, memories, and a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our childhoods.

Would I recommend Light Bulb Baking?  I think this is one book that almost every mom would appreciate--and dads too.  Easy Bake® Ovens hold so many memories to so many people--and this book presents them all wonderfully in its well researched pages.  I think this book is a must have as the holidays approach.  It's a great conversation starter and a keepsake.  I loved it!
