Wordless Wednesday Link Up: Irish Fiddle Recital

By on 1/14/2014 08:07:00 AM

The girls have taken Irish Fiddle lessons (essentially, beginner violin lessons at this point) since last February.  Some day they hope to be playing reels and jigs--but, for now, they are working on Ode to Joy and This Old Man.   The studio held its winter music recital this past weekend and both girls (slightly nervously) participated.  I thought we would share a few shots of the girls from the recital as this week's Wordless Wednesday link-up.  Don't forget to share your latest Wordless Wednesday posts at the end of our post!

Posing Before the Winter Recital

Macy was ready to go....

Madelyn was slightly more excited....

Madelyn was 3rd to play....
Time for Jingle Bells....She said she wasn't nervous--but, she did position herself with her back to most of the audience.  I think it was a relief to play and relax!

Macy's Turn!
Macy's age put her somewhere in the middle of the program.  She was concentrating on O' Christmas Tree.....we did get a slight smile from her  at the end.

In the end, we were proud of them (like always!).  It's not easy to play solos in front of a crowd--especially from memory.

Another busy weekend!

    1. That will make Macy very happy, Sheryl--she's at that "age" where finding the "right" outfit is a bit stressful! :)

    1. Thanks Amila, we need a better camera or a better picture taker. That has been a household debate :)

  8. Your girls are so lovely and I know they did you proud. BTW before I go, I just have to ask, what's the difference between a fiddle and a violin? Thanks for joining my WW linky party. Happy WW!

    1. Hi Cathy and thank you. The instrument is the same--my middle one uses it as a "violin" in her school orchestra...the bowing technique is the difference (or so I'm told) : )

  15. It takes a lot of courage to perform like that. They were brave - and they looked pretty doing it! :)
