In the Kitchen: EL Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chip Review

Fall is in the air--and in our little corner of the world--that means fall gatherings, parties, and, of course, a little football tailgating here and there. Tortilla chips are probably my favorite salty snack to serve with my random dips and recipe creations--or just to grab with some homemade salsa! When I was asked to review El Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chips from Snyder of Berlin, I knew that the restaurant style tortilla chip sample would fit right in with the upcoming weekend menu. What did we think of EL Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chips from Snyder of Berlin?

We received a free sample of this product for use in this review.  All opinions are our own.

What was different about EL Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chips from Snyder of Berlin? Okay--there are literally rows of tortilla chips already on the shelves in Ohio’s grocery stores--and my family has tried most of them. What sets these chips apart?  Snyder of Berlin’s El Restaurante Brand tortilla chips have no added colors or preservatives, no trans fat--and the restaurant style triangular ones that we tried were dusted with sea salt.

How did EL Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chips taste? We tried the chips alone with salsa--and as the base for a loaded nacho recipe. The EL Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chips are thick and crispy--and they held up very well beneath chunky salsa and loaded nacho toppings. My husband noted that the EL Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chips simply taste cleaner than some of the other tortilla chips--especially store brand chips--which we often buy.

The chips are not loaded with oil and salt--they taste light and clean. They do not leave your hands coated with powdery, oily, residue.  The EL Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chips are not overly salty--and I especially liked that when serving them with cooking sauces and sodium-overloaded ingredients.

Would we recommend EL Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chips? I would certainly serve them again--especially when I need a thick, fresh tasting tortilla chip. The entire family enjoyed the chips both as a snack and as a meal ingredient. EL Restaurante Brand Authentic Tortilla Chips are priced around $3.99--which is comparable to other restaurant quality tortilla chip brands and are currently available in stores in western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia or online.
