While it may be a little frozen outside in our little corner of the world today--I brought the taste of the tropics into the kitchen for a snack with some pineapple, mango and banana. I make some sort of smoothie recipe nearly every day for either myself or for my husband to take to work for an afternoon snack.
With just a few simple ingredients, the nice blend of protein and carbs in the smoothie makes a quick, healthy snack in minutes. No afternoon crashes--and no hitting the cookie jar or the vending machine. What is my go-to recipe for a Tropical Smoothie?
Ingredients for a Tropical Smoothie
1/2 c. Pineapple (Fresh or Frozen), cut into chunks
1/2 Large Banana, sliced
1/2 c. Mango (Fresh or Frozen), cut into bite sized pieces
1 scoop Vanilla Protein Powder or 1/2 c. Vanilla Greek Yogurt
1 c. Vanilla Almond Milk
Honey or Stevia
Instructions for a Tropical Smoothie
Combine the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Taste and add sweetener if desired. Usually the natural sweetness of the ripe fruit provides plenty of sweetness--but, it is a matter of taste.
Notes: I frequently add a handful of spinach or kale, turning this into a green tropical smoothie for extra nutrients!
