Last Selfie without Braces....For 2 1/2 years....
She posted this photo and caption to her Instagram account the morning of her orthodontist appointment.
This photo was followed by some nervous tears, doubts, and worries....for child and parents alike!
And Now We Have Braces....
Her dad asked her to send him a picture as we left the orthodontist's office. This is her first official photo with braces! She opted for pink and teal colors....and is anxiously awaiting a change in a few more weeks!
We are nearing the end of her first month with braces and we are actually faring quite well. Nothing broken, no real issues--and it helps immensely that so many of her classmates have gotten their new braces this month as well! Only one of her classmates made an attempt at teasing....but, Bracey Macy was the best he could come up with and Macy's dad had already told her to expect that one! (Boys!)
As I sit here typing this...I realize that she will probably be half finished with her braces around the time her little sister gets hers...then we'll have back to back proms...and graduations.....and college adventures to look forward to! The growing up game is officially on now, isn't it?

Braces seem to be the norm these days. Both my eldest two have braces currently and luckily they haven't experienced any teasing, probably because all their friends have braces too!
