I've done it again. I read a romance novel for review. I have said it before, I know, (again and again)--I am not a romance novel fan. Typically. However, I am a huge fan of author Bonnie R. Paulson--and I looked forward to the latest book in her Montana Trails series. What did I think of Unbridled Trails?

About the Book
A vengeful cowboy seeking justice loses his heart to a damsel-in-distress, but can the results of saving her outweigh their chance at love?
Kyle Darby doesn't want to be a lonely ranch hand forever. If he can help his cousin run a ranch, his chances at future foreman will be drastically increased. But his need to find revenge for his sister clouds his logic.
Sherry isn't into dating or anything normal - she studies bugs for crying out loud.
When Kyle rescues her one night at a bar, she finds it hard to believe his continued interest is sincere. Used to saving herself and her heart, Sherry has to accept that sometimes she needs help.
With her life hanging in the balance, Sherry has to learn to rely on someone else - Kyle.
Can she do it without losing her heart? Or are they both destined to just be along for the ride?
My Review
Unbridled Trails is best read as part of the series. I read the first two books of this series out of order. While each was fine as a stand alone novel--readers gain a lot more insight into the characters and their stories when the books are read in order. The author creates wonderful characters and storylines through the series--so readers will not want to miss the development of the series.
Unbridled Trails merges fiction with reality. From the character interactions to the more realistic storylines, the author creates life stories rather than simple love stories. Personally, I enjoy the science elements frequently thrown into Paulson's stories--in this case, a main character who happens to study bugs.
Would I recommend Unbridled Trails by Bonnie R. Paulson? I love Paulson's writing style. Whether a science fiction novel or a romance--she keeps the stories grounded and entertaining. Even if you aren't a huge romance novel fan, I would give this series a try!
