5 Minute Breakfast Idea: Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

Our first day of school for the new year is already days away--and, I would be lying if I said that I was excited to up the chaos in our already busy mornings!  Breakfast is so important--but, it simply has to be fast and easy some days!  Smoothies are my go-to, breakfast and afternoon snacks when I want something both healthy and simple to prepare.  This Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe is one of our favorite, 5-Minute Breakfast ideas--and can be made with fresh or frozen strawberries.

Ingredients for our Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

1/2 C. Vanilla Greek Yogurt or 1 Serving Scoop of Vanilla Protein Powder, like Bob's Red Mill Protein Powder
1/2 Large Banana, cut into 1-inch chunks
1/2 c. Sliced Strawberries, fresh or frozen
1 c. Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk (I use Silk Almond Milk) or Regular Milk
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract, I use Simply Organic Pure Vanilla Extract
Dash of Ground Cinnamon, I use Simply Organic Cinnamon

Instructions for Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Add all of the Strawberry Banana Smoothie into the bowl of a blender.  Blend on high for a minute until all ingredients are well incorporated into the smoothie.

Pour into a tall glass or travel cup with a lid and serve.

Recipe Notes:  When I want a thicker smoothie, I prefer to use frozen fruit in our smoothies rather than ice cubes because it creates a thicker, chilled smoothie--without watering down the flavor.

You don't need a fancy blender to create this smoothie.  While it's convenient to use a blender with a travel sport bottle attached--these aren't practical for my family of four when we need four portable breakfasts for an early morning commute.  We simply use a regular blender and have a few travel cups and sport-water bottles that we use for grab & go smoothies.
