This morning, I am pleased to share my review of Remy: The Brotherhood Files by Isaiyan Morrison. I do enjoy paranormal stories with vampires and unique, fantasy worlds. What did I think of Remy?

My Review
Morrison crafts a well rounded story in Remy. When I initially agreed to review this novel, I wasn't aware that it was part of a series--nor that it shared the stages with the author's The Deamhan Chronicles. I haven't read any of the other novels--but, never felt that I was missing anything as I read Remy. The author does a wonderful job sharing the paranormal world of her characters and developing both the characters and the plot so well that the novel is a stand alone story that is difficult to put down.
Twists, turns, flawed characters and darkness surround Remy. I enjoyed the author's writing style, as she was able to take us deep in the mind and experiences of her main character as we explored his "new" existence and discovered the perils of the new realm with him. The author keeps just enough twists and turns and doubts flowing into the storyline to create, not only a well rounded story, but a well done character study for her series. Readers will watch Remy grow and change--and develop along with the storyline. Don't expect to love (or trust) many of the characters. Instead, plan to feel and understand the motivations within.
Would I recommend Remy: The Brotherhood Files by Isaiyan Morrison? I read a lot of urban fantasy and vampire / paranormal novels--but, I found the world building stronger and more intriguing in Remy than in many similar works. I loved the author's setting and world development--and I loved seeing her world through Remy rather than simply alongside him. If you enjoy vampire stories with stronger character development and a focus on the darker elements of our real-world, human nature (deceit/betrayal) in a non-human, urban fantasy world--then I recommend Remy. I enjoy the author's writing style and characters so much that I have added the other books of her series to my reading list.
