Veterans are able to enroll in health care that covers more than just doctor's visits, hospitalization, and medication. Participants can also enjoy benefits such as movement classes, yoga, and acupuncture — things not normally covered by conventional health insurance.

In addition to being eligible for excellent health care, veterans are able to receive discounts on personal care such as glasses, contacts, and gym memberships. Places like GlassesUSA, FrameofChoice.com, Haber Vision, and AluminumEyewear offer huge discounts anywhere from 25 to 60 percent off frames to not only veterans but active military and their immediate families. Active military and Veterans can join Gold's Gym for $49 and receive 20 percent off their monthly dues.

Help for Your Home and Your Life
You might be surprised to learn that your military discount can be used for insurance, storage services, and repairs. Veterans who are running into financial difficulties can receive assistance with their mortgage through the Department of Veteran Affairs. Some companies offer free home services for veterans, such as free air conditioning service plans. If you're looking to get a certification or vocational training, the GI Bill will cover up to $2,000 of your tuition. Need to have your taxes done? Veterans can have their taxes prepared for free.

Well Earned Vacation
Who doesn't want a vacation? If you are active military or a veteran, you are entitled to some pretty sweet deals. How does an extremely discounted Disney vacation sound? Military who visit Walt Disney World in Florida can purchase a special 4-day military pass to the parks for $138 as well as get up to 40 percent off select Disney Resort Hotels.

Veterans and active military get discounts on cruises, airlines, hotels, car rentals, movie tickets, museums, and amusement parks. Regal Theaters gives military personnel matinee priced movie tickets all day, every day.

Shopping Discounts
When it comes to shopping, veterans can receive discounts at just about every retailer around. These discounts vary from store to store. Certain stores, such as Old Navy, have Military Mondays that give military personnel 10 to 15 percent off their purchase. There are some amazing discounts to be had online, including flower deliver, lamps, and free wedding dresses for military brides. There are a large number of online retailers who honor the military by giving steep discounts.

The savings available to veterans and active military are quite phenomenal and are just another way to say, “thank you for your service.” It is a great way to honor those who are willing to lay down their lives and serve their country so that we can continue to enjoy our freedom and civil liberties.
