Abuela made cookies to eat after school. The gingersnap kind, just the thought made us drool! We rushed home excited. We opened the door…The cookies were missing - just CRUMBS on the floor! Can you help the kids crack the case of the GINGERSNAP SNATCHER?
Gingersnap Snatcher is More than a Missing Gingersnap Mystery. The missing cookies are just part of the story for young readers. The author "hides" musical patterns throughout the book for readers--as well as the opportunity to download Abuela's gingersnap cookie recipe. Readers will have fun following the cookie crumbs to find the cookie thief--and then even more fun picking out the patterns on the pages to sing the Gingersnap Snatcher melody included at the end.
Readers will Find Fun Illustrations and a Fun Storyline. This book is perfect for storytimes or read-along time--and is even fun for ESL classrooms, too, as it opens up so many little things to talk about as a group! Perfect time for Spanish-speaking students to talk about their own abuelas and for children to find excitement in cookie baking, mystery-solving, following clues, and holidays. The colorful illustrations add to the fun and mystery of following the cookie crumbs and finding the "thief."
Would I Recommend Gingersnap Snatcher by Vicky Weber? This story is an adorable book to share during the holidays. As the children search for Abuela's missing cookies, readers will read on in anticipation with each page. For those interested in singing and musical rhythms--the book helps introduce those as well. My girls would have loved finding the recipe at the end to make as a family! If you are looking for a cute book to read with little mystery solvers--this is a fun one!
