I will be the first to admit that my 2022 has not started off in an orderly, organized, productive manner! After a month of the plague moving systematically through each member of the family--and sticking around for weeks, a daughter getting a first driver's license, two daughters heading back to school for the second semester and each facing some unexpected challenges, a sick dog, a house/schedule/work/life in disarray from the rocky start to the year--I am starting the new year all over beginning this week! It is time to take a few steps back, re-prioritize, re-group, and get things back into FOCUS.
For the past several years, I have declared a "word of the year" instead of the usual New Year's Resolutions. My family took a mini-vacation at the beginning of the new year. Then, we came home to the launch of the current state of chaos within a day. While I didn't create a Word of the Year post this year (not yet anyway!)--I really felt that the phrase "I Can" was most appropriate to guide me this year.
Well. The past couple of months has literally put that phrase to a daily test of strength and faith! I had many days when I found myself struggling to physically, mentally, spiritually, realistically do many of the tasks on the day's to-do list! I have stepped back many times, on many days, and taken a deep breath and whispered (prayed/hoped), "I can do this."
I have decided to share my motivational theme of the week this week. If you follow me on Twitter--you know I often share motivational quotes and generally align my thoughts for the week around a specific theme or topic. My tweets have been sporadic at best this year, but they are a little more organized this week, I think!
Focus and clarity are vital to getting me back on track toward my goals--and I need to be honest about how that focus impacts my day, my life, and my successes. Today, I wanted to share some inspirational quotes about focus and some realistic realizations about focus too!
This week, I will...
It is oh so easy to focus on excuses and blame other people, places, and things for the current state of my home/self/life/etc. BUT--the reality is--some problems need solutions. Anger, blame, and excuses are not going to fix the issues.
to focus your energies on answers-- not excuses.” -William Arthur Ward

Focus on Rolling Up My Sleeves and Getting Stuff Done
Every day, my daughter makes her RUOSAGSD List.
Roll Up Our Sleeves and Get Stuff Done.
Her RUOSAGSD list focuses her, grounds her, gives her a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of control--and makes her to-do list title just a bit more fun!
I cannot guarantee that the results I seek will appear if I do everything on my list. But, I can guarantee that if I don't put in the effort this week and try--the results are certainly not going to happen miraculously!
you can only control your effort level and your focus.” – Ben Zobrist

Focus on The Journey
I cannot remember one thing that made me smile in the past two months. I cannot remember doing anything just for fun. I cannot remember stepping back and enjoying a sound, a sight, a smell, a taste, a thought.
Life is a journey--not a destination. It is time to focus on the joy of doing and being and succeeding and accomplishing!
Joy is found not in finishing the activity , but in doing it." –Greg Anderson

Focus on The Positive
