Return to the Garden: Discovering God's Original Design for Women Combines a Memoir with Christian Self-Help Guidance. Most of this book tells the author's personal life story as she moved through abusive relationships toward finding her own strength, power, and freedom through Faith. While much of the book focuses on the author's personal experiences, she does seek to offer insights into the path she used to find peace and forgiveness through Scripture.
Some Readers May Find the Christian Guidance a Little Heavy Handed. This book is undoubtedly for a Christian reader. With most chapters holding Scripture that the author found helpful and valuable toward her life and ending with a specific prayer--there isn't a lot of room to take a suggested passage and apply it to your own life and situation--unless it is very similar to the author's life and challenges. The author's writing style makes this book either very relatable--or difficult to relate to--depending on the reader's life, beliefs, and previous relationship with God or interpretations of specific Scripture and Biblical ideas.
Would I Recommend Return to the Garden: Discovering God's Original Design for Women by Rebecca Mann Kelly? If you enjoy memoirs and Christian self-help, this is a well-organized, well-presented book of Faith and self-discovery. I enjoyed the author's perspectives and learning about her path through her personal challenges. I would recommend it to others, especially women, seeking to explore an application of Faith on the ups and downs of relationships, life, and beliefs.

Rebecca is a follower of Jesus, a business executive, a mom of two energetic boys and was recently married to a wonderful man from Boise. In her 20-year business career, she has led business lines that generated few hundred million dollars of annual revenue, was recognized in Fortune’s 40 Under 40, and has traveled all over the world leading strategic projects. Her kingdom pursuits include a love for God’s presence (wherever it can be found) and serving on the worship team and prayer team at her home church Oceans Church in Orange County, California. Her loves include walks in the hills, any opportunity for karaoke, and when someone else cooks.
