1 Girl Nation Album Review and Giveaway

Do you cringe when your kids turn on the car radio—or ask to watch a television music awards show? As my girls sing along with friends to popular songs, I am constantly wondering if they even know what they are saying—especially when certain songs are played on satellite radio in their less-than-kid-friendly-uncensored-versions! Our family recently discovered 1 Girl Nation and had the fun opportunity to review their debut album. (We even have an extra copy to give away to one lucky reader!)  What do our girls (and this mom) think of 1 Girl Nation, or 1GN as they are often called?

Landing in the space where One Direction meets TobyMac, 1 Girl Nation is an exciting blend of upbeat pop music, with lyrics that are totally focused on living life for God, even while you’re young. 1GN, as they’ve already been dubbed, stars Carmen, Kayli, Kelsey, Lauryn Taylor and Lindsey, five girls with a passion for telling their fans about Christ through their music. Their first single, “While We’re Young,” can be heard on radio stations across the country and their self-titled debut album is available now! 

I received a complimentary copy of the album for use in this review--but, all opinions and experiences are my own.

We love the 1 Girl Nation image—and their messages. I am raising young daughters in a not so-family-friendly world. In the face of the recent Miley Cyrus fiasco, it’s wonderful to see a group of beautiful, talented, young women fully dressed (and still fashionable), singing about something a little more valuable than the latest breakup or life disaster—a faithful relationship with God. It was very refreshing to listen to music that the girls and I could enjoy together.

1 Girl Nation was so much fun to review.  My girls have listened to 1 Girl Nation for a while--and have scouted out a fun Q&A video of 1GN answering questions about everything from favorite clothing store to favorite Bible verse.....



....and they have discovered Secret Keeper Girl , a faith based program designed for tweens which 1GN is affiliated.  This review proved to be a lot of fun for all three of us!

Would I recommend 1GN?  If you are a parent with tweens and interested in faith friendly music and activities, I think 1 Girl Nation is a great choice for your music collection.  These beautiful, young ladies are very talented and serve as great role models for our girls.
