Movie Review and Giveaway: KING'S FAITH

Our family recently had the opportunity to review KING’S FAITH, a faith infused, film starring Lynn Whitfield, Crawford Wilson, Kayla Compton, and James McDaniel. It's tough to find family and faith driven movies that feature real values in real world situations. While KING’S FAITH is rated PG-13 and was not quite yet appropriate for our younger daughters--it offered us a welcomed, grown up movie night--with a message.

What did we think of KING’S FAITH? We both enjoyed the movie--and would like to share it with our readers and offer one of you the opportunity to WIN a copy of KING’S FAITH in the giveaway at the end of the post.

We received a complimentary copy of this movie for use in our review--and a copy will be provided to the winner of our giveaway through our affiliation with Fly By Promotions.  All opinions are our own.

Quick summary of KING'S FAITH. Brenden King saw eighteen foster homes, nine arrests and one life-changing moment. After Brendan King’s life spiraled to rock bottom, the teen found hope in a new relationship with Christ while serving time in a juvenile penitentiary. Recently released from prison, Brendan finds solace in the foster home of a couple struggling with suppressed grief after the unexpected loss of their son. As the city-bred teen enrolls at a suburban high school, he finds support from a group of believers. Yet the bonds of his old way of life—and the gang that wants to know where he hid their stash on a long-ago night—are strong. In his darkest moment, Brendan found faith. Now he must decide if it’s worth the price to hold on to it.

KING’S FAITH stars a wonderful cast. I love Lynn Whitfield--but the entire cast of KING'S FAITH blends together wonderfully throughout the story. The faith and desire to believe in good. To face the world with the belief that faith guides us--even through darkest hours. The actors bring a courageous story to life

Would we recommend KING'S FAITH? I think any family with middle school/teen aged children would benefit from the film. Our kids are faced with a multitude of real-world pressures at younger and younger ages. While these may not be gang-related or drug related for many of us--this film certainly opens the door to discussions about forgiveness, mistakes, and high-pressure, real world, challenges. The movies contains some special features that make it extremely useful for family viewing and discussion: there is an included discussion guide and Bible study clips affiliated with LIVE IT OUT Bible Study. Faith, forgiveness and strength are highlighted in KING'S FAITH--and so many families need support reinforcing those values.
