Quick Summary of Inspector Dewey: My name is Dewey--Inspector Dewey. I live in the big green house on Hampshire Avenue with my family: Thumper, Lily, and Anna. I am the Big Cat—responsible for keeping everyone safe and in order. I do this quite well, in spite of the fact that managing my family is like, well, herding cats!
Mostly our life is peaceful. But one night it wasn’t. That was the night the bad guy showed up on our block. Of course, I knew exactly how to outsmart the outlaw, but—miserable mullet!—would Anna and the police understand my instructions?
To find out how the adventure ended, you’ll have to read my book. But I’ll give you a hint: there’s a reason I’m called Inspector Dewey.
Inspector Dewey...as told by the Inspector himself. The girls and I loved that the story was told from the cat's perspective. As Heimerl moved the characters through the story; we found ourselves comparing the book's cats' personalities and individual "voices" to our own family of cats. It was easy to imagine our own cats sharing the story!
Irene Bofill creates whimsical illustrations. The illustrations flowed and connected from page to page--with starry skies and expression filled faces. The images helped set the mood and tone of the story. It was fun to find the cats on the various page and talk about their personalities and emotions.
Would I recommend Inspector Dewey by Kristen Heimerl? Cat lovers will enjoy this book. The author does a wonderful job depicting the cats in this story and capturing their cat-like personalities. The story is fun, easy to read, and enjoyable for family story time. I would certainly recommend it for younger elementary aged cat lovers!

Thank you sincerely for the opportunity to share Inspector Dewey with your family and friends. The most amusing part about writing the book was developing the little kitty characters and voices. Oh, what fun I had bringing their distinctive personalities to life! Little people, those kitties are, aren't they? My guys would be so pleased to know that their voices sparked conversations among friends. Here's to you, storytelling and fuzzy friends!
